Which branch of national govt. is more important the Executive or the Legislative branches?

which branch of national govt. is more important the Executive or the Legislative branches? and please explain why you think that branch is more important. detailed answers please!|||The Executive Department is more important because it directly administers the country.|||Familiar question. Same answer from me.

The _lobbyist_ branch. It is more "important" because it is more powerful. It is more powerful, because it is the primary conduit for transfer of money from wealthy sources to corruptible politicians. Without lobbyist, Washington would go out of business.|||That's really hard to say. An United States without a president or an U.S. without Congress. hmmm

I would say the legislative branch would be more important. The pres. is like a puppet in the government and the Congress is essential for making laws.|||They are about equal -- by design.|||Neither branch of government is "more important" than the other. The government of the U.S.ofA. was designed that way for a reason:

No one branch of government can do anything without the approval of the other TWO branches of government, making sure that the RULE OF LAW is upheld -- instead of the "Rule of Dictators".

Strange how so many U.S. "Patriots" denounce Fidel Castro for the way he ran Cuba -- yet want the U.S. President to have the same kind of power Castro enjoyed for over 50 years.|||As has been stated elsewhere, all three branches are necessary and were designed to provide a balance of power. In some ways, the Judicial branch has sought to increase its power by essentially making law in its interpretation of the Constitution. The Executive branch has sought to increase its power by means of things like going to war without declaring a war. Only Congress can officially declare war but presidents have figured out ways to circumvent that. To answer your actual question, I would say that the Legislative branch is the most important because it is more directly representative of the people. People at the local level are most directly represented by their congressperson and there is one congressperson for roughly the same number of people in every state. At a little higher level, each state has equal representation irrespective of population size by having two Senators.
