What is the most important branch of Mathematics used by astronomers?

What branch of Mathematics is often used by astronomers when

studying the galaxy. And how are they used for?|||Professional astronomers need to be adept at all branches of mathematics in their work. Spherical geometry and trigonometry are used in calculating positions. Newton _invented_ calculus specifically to solve astronomical problems, and it is used in all branches of astronomy. These are only two examples of many.|||I don't think astonomer need thorough knowledge of any particular branch of Mathematics. Its those sitting in the comp room and scientists who design the whole journey, who need that knowledge. Astronomers need to know how to live in those difficult condition in the space craaft and how to discharge their duties.|||Gosh, all branches of mathematics are equally important to astronomers. If I was stranded on a remote and deserted island and only had only one book then it would be a first issue of 'Principia Mathematica'.|||Spherical trigonometry.|||I guess its trigonometry %26amp; geometry|||Trigonometry
