How do you prevent a cut fig tree branch from regrowing?

Neigbhor has fig tree that is planted right against our property fence. There is one branch that grows into a yard and pushes against the fence. A series of windy days would probably cause the fence to eventually break. Each time I cut the branch, it grows back bigger and heavier. I've contacted that property manager (it's a rental house), but he doesn't seem to think it's an issue. Anyways, does anyone know what I could do to prevent that one branch from regrowing?|||Cut the limb at the main trunk of the bush.Cut it flush,paint with prunning paint.|||Brush some paint on the stump after it's cut.


You can also use tar. It will prevent new growth at that location and also protect the tree from bugs entering into the cut.|||pruning spray. get it from any lowes, ace places like that. its a thick black kind of tar. also seals the cut so bugs, fungus and dissease can not get in.|||you are wasting ur time and money using pruning paint... studies have shown no good reason to use it... if it is a fresh cut on a dry day... diseases won't get in.... bugs don't use it as an entry hole if its clean...





now... with figs... the trick is to cut close to the main trunk... but leave about a half inch... and just keep cutting it back... go take a look see about once a week to make sure it doesn't sucker...





thats how u do it RIGHT.... do what u will though i don't know why you wouldn't want a fig... must just be in my blood though...|||some figs can be eaten and some not .. check with garden dept, why not enjoy the figs, let it grow, enjoy the shade, have picnic/tea party under the tree when it grows, invite the neighbor too, instead of allowing your fence to break down with weight, you cut the part of the fence and give branch a support under it so that it grows upward...|||Maybe some vagrant drifter with a chain saw might come ambling through town looking for a bottle of Jack Daniels and on his ambling walk, while everyone is at work he might just cut the entire tree down! Wouldn't that be horrible??
