Branch on my Azalea plants broken due to heavy winter snow, how do I fix this?

I put cotton around the breaks and used duct tape to bind the branch back to the plant, in hopes it might fuse back together. Anyone have any suggestions? We had a bad winter on the east coast and lot's of plants and trees are hurting. Thanks|||You need to take a garden snip %26amp; snip it off after the break. Next, cut above the break, wrap it in a paper towel @ 2x's, then stick it in water. It should start to regrow roots in no time.|||So when you pull that duct tape off the branch what do you think will happen

Cut it off and let nature do it's stuff
