In midst of trimming branches of bradford pear, the branch broke off. Will the tree be ok in the spring?

Do I need to do anything to exposed area where the branch broke off? We were sawing the branch and it got to heavy that it broke off at bottom third of the branch. Do I need to treat the exposed area of branch? Also will the tree be ok in the spring?|||They have a pruner sealer for trees that get trimmed up ,you just apply it over the cut or broken area and it will seal it off.It comes in a aerosol spray.|||Your tree will be OK in the spring. Click on the link below for info on proper pruining. You didn't mention if you completed removing the entire branch. If you left part of it, it may sprout vigorously in the spring, or it may die and provide a place for rot and disease to enter the tree. It depends on how long the remaining limb is. Treating the open wood after pruining depends somewhat on the tree. While there are products made specifically for sealing the wound, some commercial tree pruiners use spray paint to seal the cut.|||Without seeing the wound and cut, it's hard to say, but more than likely it will be fine. You need to review where and how to make pruning cuts on trees. I'm not liking the mental picture I'm getting from your description. Just whacking a branch back any old place is wrong.

Once you learn how to properly remove a branch by first making an undercut, you won't have those branches get away from you and rip down the bark.|||Bradford and Cleveland pear trees are know for breaking branches.

Trees are not safe in the long term.

The Bradford Pear Is Pure Junk.

It should be fine.|||Bradford Pears are notoriously weak trees based purely on their branching habits. You can put a little peroxide on the cut ( seriously! It's good for plants, too ) if you want. The tree should be fine in the spring. We have them as landscape plants in my town and they are constantly being damaged in wind storms. They always bounce right back.|||pour mouth wash on affected area, this killls bacteria , maybe not as pretty as before but it should live.
