What branch of medicine uses herbs as the only treatment?

I want to pursue a career in medicine but i want to use herbs as treatment. the branch has to have a title and when i graduate i want like a certificate saying i am the official doctor of____. Which branch does this medicine? Does it pay? And where would i find jobs regarding the branch in USA?|||I don't think there is a branch of medicine that deals specifically in herbal medicine. Its usually used as a adjunt to traditional medicines/treatments.

However i am no expert, maybe someone else is!|||Well, that certificate will have to be issued in your own little fantasy world, because in the real world, that does not exist in the US. That is, if you want to be a part of actual medicine, and not some form of quackery.

Herbs have a small problem - there is no consistency in quality and dosage, and they are not overseen by regulatory agencies. They can certainly be pharmaceutically active, and can impact health in either positive or negative ways. (For example, if you take enough ginseng, you can be anticoagulated enough to bleed into your head and die).

There are physicians who use herbal medications as a part of their practice, but to ignore ALL pharmaceutical preparations is short-sighted and dangerous.|||No branch in medicine does that. It is not that herbalism is being dismissed out of hand. Many drugs are based on substances from plants. But clinical studies have shown that herbs are not as effective as conventional drugs (some of which as mentioned are based on plant substances), and they are certainly not without side effects.|||traditional Chinese herbal medicine deals with diagnosis of disease, as well as treatment using only herbs..

i doubt there is a title.. of course this job pays... if your good at it then you would be a great source for alternative medicine.. unfortunately its not that recognized in the states.. i doubt you can even find a college or university that teaches it there..|||http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herbalism
