What military branch should I join for technology?

So, I want to sign up to the military, any advice on which branch to sign up with? I want to go for something dealing with computers, or anything with technology. I don't want to be shot at, but I do want to join.

Thanks.|||Air Force or Navy...

PS...the Air Force in charge of all the military satellites in the skies...they also are the ones that launch them into space...so that's something to consider when you think about the two branches. Can't get any more "techy" or "computer-related" than satellites.

@ William Donovan

Yes, you can be shot at in a submarine. It's just that the shooter happens to be an enemy sub (or anti-submarine aircraft/vessel)...

Of course, no one has shot at one of our subs in recent history, so you should be safe in that regard.|||Any branch offers good technical jobs. You can work in aviation in any of the four branches. I know the Air Force, Navy, and Marines all offer very good electronics training for avionics.

All the branches have IT jobs. You can set up networks, repair networks, repair computers, etc. in any branch.

Decide what you want to do and look up each MOS or rating. Ask about a specific MOS or rating. Learn all you can before you decide.

You'll probably come down to deciding on which branch of service you want to serve in. All of them are going to offer similar IT jobs and the chances of getting shot at as an IT technician is going to be slim. You should consider what type boot camp you want to go to, what type base you want to serve on, how much physical training you want, etc. That is going to be the main difference.

I happen to agree Navy has the best schools. I went to the Navy AV-A school as a Marine, all Marine electronics technicians go to Navy schools. The Nuke rpogram is one of the most respected but it is not IT, it is nuclear. It's a great education if that is what you want to do.|||The Navy has the best schools. The Electronics Technician rating has so many sub categories that you can specialize in.

Take a look at any navy ship in the CIC. it is cramped full of electronics.

The Navy has one field that no other service can offer. Nuclear Electronics Technician. An enlisted man or women can learn how to operate and work on Nuclear Reactors.

You don't get shot at on Submarines.|||The Marine Corps. They just recently (in the last years or so) update their schools. You can leave MOS school with a CCNA or a CompTIA certification. During your career they will send you to classes to get even more certifications.|||Google Voice is offering call credits for military families this holiday season. Restrictions apply.|||Not the Marine Corps. The Marines have the lowest budget and pretty much get hand me downs from other branches. When i was In all are equipment was at least 20 years old if not older. Getting something new meant getting something that had been refurbished.|||Navy or Air Force
